WIW: The Forgotten Skirt

I think one positive thing about having a tiny closet is finding things that were put up in the wrong spot and *missing* for a season or two.  Some closet mining last night produced this long lost fave. The skirt in real life is a warm amber color, with some rust, not as mustard as it looks in the photo.

It's warm today, so I went without tights or hose -- I also couldn't find a suitable nude pair this morning so I went without.  I did stop and buy some *just in case* the naked leg look didn't go over in the office, but I haven't had any second looks. I grabbed the jacket in case it was cool, but have not worn it since I walked in.

WIW: All of the stripes

Turns out, I'm not as bothered by the multiple stripes as I thought I would be.  Navy and white on top, red crops and navy pumps.

Funny thing is, last night I was trying so hard to make an outfit work with my red pencil skirt and eventually gave up because nothing looked right.  This morning I woke up and this outfit popped into my head (duh, this could have been my red skirt!!).  Funny how the obvious solution sometimes doesn't hit you until too late.

WIW: Browns, and that shirt again.

Today the weather is nice (near 60), so a good day to pull out my brown ponte dress.  I threw the gold sweater over, and dug out my suede wedges -- which don't get the love they deserve. They're so comfy! Also showing how it looks when I'm outside of the office and on the go.  I probably don't need the jacket today, but it pulls everything together.  I typically wouldnt buy a skirt this short because they just never stay put, but since it's a dress, it seems to be fine today with little dancing up my leg.

Yesterday, I wore the animal print top with a blazer + slacks. This is an end of day photo, which is far more wrinkled than I was early in the day.  This shirt is truly one of those things you buy that seems to just be so easy to pull into an outfit because it goes with everything.  It just might be my top buy of the fall!

WIW: Road Trip

I'm on the way for my 4 hour round trip to pick up my son from his holiday vacation w/my parents. I had on a much better outfit and decided I'd rather be comfy, so the giant sweater wins.  This is the same huge sweater that I couldn't get to work with the pencil skirt, it's definitely good for days like this.  Black leggings, brown boots -- I really need to get these boots in black!

Also, since it seems to be puffer season at YLF, I have a pic with mine as well. Purple with a huge fur hood (which total overkill for around here, but since today is rainy and we may see a snowflake, it qualifies!   Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

WIW: To find my gear...

I can't wear it to the office, but on days when I'm working from home, I wear jeans and a hoodie or a long sleeved tee...and throw on a vest for errands.  I love this vest, but it does my figure no favors.  I look like a block!  The white vest must be a different size, because I didn't look nearly as big in it. Time to find a thinner down vest.

I discovered thinner materials w/zips or half zips in the front are warm, but still flattering to my figure and don't hide all of the curves.  This one is a Smartwool long-sleeved pullover, and though it's as thin and comfy as a tee shirt, it's really warm.  My favorite Keens + fun socks top off the look for sitting in my office all day long and watching the cold drizzle. They look like brown clown shoes, but feel so good!

Today I found all of the pieces for my remote setup for my camera - you can't see my excitement, but it means I might actually get a family photo for holiday cards this year! Whohoo!

WIW: Casual Friday, Dressy Monday

I usually don't wear flats with these jeans, but Friday I had some running around to do, and these were the only two flats I could find a matching pair of (I hate when that happens!). These are technically "straight leg" jeans, but they are as tight as I care for denim to fit on me.  I usually wear these with tall boots, and they  look like normal skinnies.

This purple dress that I wore today is one of my favorite dresses.  It was a steal that I found end of season at Banana Republic one year.  It has fun sleeves and a great shape when it's belted.  It's freezing cold today, so that gave me a chance to throw on my black leggings, knee high wool socks and layer the heck out of this.  I was pulling up leggings all day, so I think that while it was a warm idea and my legs looked fine, I need something higher waisted!

WIW: Camouflaged Clogs

Today is one of those days I just felt like comfortable shoes and loud pink socks. I pulled out the Danskos, tried to shine them up (and it didn't work), so they look completely matte navy blue - a major conditioning fail.  This means they blend in better with today's trouser jeans, and they're not standing out and making people aware that I'm rocking the clogs.

Does anyone else with larger thighs have the problem that your creases show at the bottom of the leg and are completely gone at the top?? I hate that! I love a good pants crease and seeing myself in daily photos reminds me that they don't look as polished as I think they do.

WIW: Ankle pants are growing on me

I think I might be converted to team Ankle pants.  After years of staying away from crops, and skinny ankle pants and feeling like they just weren't the right proportion for my leg shape, I've given in...and I kind of like it!

Green, black and white is today's combo.  After having my Okalas already visit the cobbler for repair, I'm being more careful about wearing them from car to office (which is only a 2 block walk).  My gold accessories match my gold walking flats. I wish I could find these in silver!

WIW: Black and White

NO-Vember trudges on, and I'm realizing I usually don't repeat my outfits in a 3-4 week span.  Buying pieces that interchange with my wardrobe has been my thing for a few years now, and this month I'm really seeing the versatility in action.  I never buy an item than can be only work with one outfit - I usually don't buy "outfits" either.  A few weeks ago I picked up this plaid moto zip vest to go with a few winter outfits. Today its just cool enough to play with my first idea.  3/4 sleeve ponte dress, tights and booties. This is the first time I've worn booties instead of my knee highs with a dress...feeling all kinds of out of proportion, but I'm here and I'm going with it!  The vest is made to zip all the way up, but my chest isn't having any of that!  Thankful for vests with diagonal zippers!

Two pics - #1, how I walked into work #2 - the inside look.  I am deftly afraid of this white bag my husband got me for my birthday.  It's just BEGGING for me to ruin it!  Not one of my more versatile bags at all.

WIW: Military jacket + Maxi Dress

This jacket was a find a few months ago, it's dark navy with brass buttons, and it has a really nice shape in the back, it's longer, almost like a riding jacket.  Paired with one of my favorite maxi dresses to wear in the fall and winter.  Today's temps will be in the 70s, so it's fall-like without being ultra warm.

I added fun socks with my booties, because I love crazy unexpected socks!
