WIW: Casual Friday, Dressy Monday

I usually don't wear flats with these jeans, but Friday I had some running around to do, and these were the only two flats I could find a matching pair of (I hate when that happens!). These are technically "straight leg" jeans, but they are as tight as I care for denim to fit on me.  I usually wear these with tall boots, and they  look like normal skinnies.

This purple dress that I wore today is one of my favorite dresses.  It was a steal that I found end of season at Banana Republic one year.  It has fun sleeves and a great shape when it's belted.  It's freezing cold today, so that gave me a chance to throw on my black leggings, knee high wool socks and layer the heck out of this.  I was pulling up leggings all day, so I think that while it was a warm idea and my legs looked fine, I need something higher waisted!

It's nice to be able to dress both casual and dressy, isn't it? It helps keep things interesting.

Your jeans look really good on you. I also like your earrings and necklace with that outfit.

Purple is a super color for you and you look terrific in that dress with the wide belt! Were your arms cold? Mine would have been.

That purple dress is some serious WOWZA!

You look comfortable in both looks.

I love you in #1. Great fits and a super relaxed yet pulled together look.

Oh, I hate it when I have to pull up leggings all day! You look fantastic in both outfits, I love the color of the dress on you.

Both the sweater in #1 and the dress are wonderful on you!

You look great in both - I really like how the belt and boots work with that dress!

Those jeans look goooooood on you! Perfect cut and it's cool you can make them "skinnies" with boots and straights with your flats. Who needs more than that?

What a great find that dress was! Whether casual or dressy, you're looking confident and stylish.

Both outfits are wonderful. You really know how to dress your figure. Both of these are just so flattering and you look gorgeous.

Your casual look is pulled together and you look fab in the purple dress ensemble!

Wonderful looks, but I really love #1. Those jeans just fit you perfectly, and I love the length with your flats !!

Thanks everyone for the boost about the jeans! When I bought them, I really felt like I was settling because I had the "waaaa, I want skinny jeans TOO" mentality.  But in all honestly, my legs look like one of those turkey drumsticks from the fair when I have on tight to the ankle skinnies, and it's even more pronounced with flats.  These are Levis Bold Curve (in LOVE with that line from Levis!), and they have really become a go-to.

As for the dress, I think I always luck up at Banana at the end of the season because I can usually fit a Large or XL (and they run big). I think that most retailers in malls and catalogs only show the thinnest, youngest models they can, and therefore lots of people 12 & up won't even step into their stores, much less wander way back to the sales room. Granted, there are still HUGE depress-fests in Banana for me, but I can always count on them for at least one great off season dress under $40.

Both of these outfits are great Von and what I'm really learning about your style is you have a keen sense of perfect fit. Well done!

Love the purple dress! And I owe you some thanks...you suggested NY and Company for bootcut pants and I found some knit pull on bootcuts that fit like trousers, not leggings. Just what I needed, and for quite a bargain! Thanks!
