WIW: Hopefully for the last time

I'm so done with this weather!  Today we have ice, around here, we are usually mid 70s at this time of the year.  I'm in spring mode, and the weather is not cooperating!

I did get in one more wear on this sweater/shrug/poncho thing, and a chance to wear these boots to work - which I never do because they aren't exactly dressy, but I think today calls for them.  I don't usually do knockoff boots, but I paid $35 dollars for these real leather fauxFryes 6 or 7 years ago at Target and they keep getting better with time.

Including a bag shot because this has been my go-to bag since Christmas.

WIW: Matching everything to an odd piece

Our weather is so crazy lately, it's been high 70s and low 80s all week, and today the high is 40.  I'm so over the cold!  I needed my fleece tights, and oddly enough, the only color I have is purple, so I immediately thought of this brown sheath + gray ponte jacket.  It's a combo I haven't tried before, and I like it.  I pulled it together with a belt that I love and probably haven't worn in about a year (because it never goes with anything!).

WIW - All of the Things!

I've have totally been on WIW photo vacation, and I hate it, because I've finished out winter with some really great outfits inspired by YLF!

Today was one of those days where everything jumped out at me and said "Hey...we've all been in this closet together for a while, and you've not noticed us yet!".  Wearing all of the things is not my usual style, and I know there was a time I'd never mix patterns, or odd colors, but today I just went for it.  I even wore my animal print scarf.

I HOPE this is one of the last really cool days, because I'm done with winter.  Hurray for all the things. Merino sweater, heavy pinstriped wide legs, Pony okalas and my plaid vest.

WIW: Fun and Colorful

Yesterday, I was feeling simple again so I threw on black + my fave top.  Added gold + green jewelry to top it off.  I was feeling silly with the poses...pardon me while I try to break up my boring pose streak!

Today, I did what I do so often...I dressed around the shoes I wanted to wear.  I love these, and bought them at the same time as the black Fryes -- but I wear these only half as much.  I just don't go for them like I need to.  Added a purple (wait...are we calling this orchid this year?) dress and the orange cami underneath to hopefully coordinate with the warm cognac boots.  This belt drives me crazy. WHY isn't there another loop to catch the tail???

WIW: Basics + a poncho

Yesterday was my first day back after a very long break!  I didn't feel like doing anything much, so I threw on a sweater + pants.

Today, it was the coldest weather ever (so they say) at 8 degrees, so I put on the fleece tights (didn't even care that they are purple - I live at my desk anyway!), tall wool ski socks, boots and a poncho.  My legs are pretty warm and I wore in a coat + scarf and changed into the poncho.

Now, this poncho I have wanted since last year and let it pass and this year, it came up again just by chance (one of those clothing trunk sales shows).  It was half off so I jumped.  Of COURSE, once I got it home, I had no idea what to do with it.  It's been in the closet for about two and a half months while I resolved my issues with it.  Normally don't hate ponchos, but they don't really do my shape any favors.  This one is different because the back is tapered, a little fitted and short.  It doesn't make me feel like a block.

Today, with the dress, I think I really like the combo.  On another day, I probably would have worn my reddish boots instead, but the fact that I have on purple tights made me want to stick with black instead. :)

WIW: Ohh la Looong Pants

Shopping the closet again this morning, I remembered that I had these pants from about 6 years ago, and I remembered Angie's post on floor sweeping pants.  These are so long and so flowy - I used to love them so much!  I added the belt to give some definition, and some green as my dash of holiday spirit.

WIW: Royal Blue Stripes

I almost forgot that I had this (so glad I didn't!).  Halogen Pencil Skirt + Banana Republic Sweater = perfect match!  I love it when you find a perfect color match when you're not really looking for one!

This skirt would probably appear longer if I didn't have to wear it all the way up to the first navy stripe for it to fit the curves!  I have this skirt in red also, and I don't think it's this short (but I may wear it tomorrow, so we shall see!).

Anyway, even though it's jacked up to there, it's still longer than most pencil skirts, so that is a win in my book.

WIW: Standing Room Only

And I do mean that LITERALLY.  Any time I accidentally grab these pants, it's not until I'm getting in the car that I remember WHY they are stuffed in the back of the closet.  It's because they have lining that's probably a size too small for my thighs!  They fit so nice when I'm standing...but I can't sit OR do stairs...and can barely get in the car. They're a mess.  I have had them for years waiting for "when my thighs get smaller", and they have...the pants are almost falling off at the waist and the thigh is STILL tight.  It's time for them to go.

I'm counting down for another 40 minutes until Ann Taylor opens and I'm running over to get new pants, because right now, I'm teetering on the edge of my chair trying not to cut off circulation :).  I'm pretty sure these pants are the reason I stopped shopping at The Gap!

WIW: This Week

This week has been super cold, so I havent wanted to wear much more than sweatpants and hoodies...but that's frowned upon at the office :).

1. The Green Velvet makes an appearance, the color is so gorgeous in real life, it just isn't captured so well in photos.  Wearing a b&W shell underneath.

2.  This outfit was thrown together last minute (as I wasted time watching GMA instead of planning this outfit).  I am not a fan of the combo...I couldn't shake the feeling that I had dressed like Uhura from Star Trek.

3.  Love this dress, I have it in two colors and if Land's End still had any, I'd have it in others as well.  It's so versatile!

WIW: The Blues

This photo is what happens when I'm too lazy to find the tripod pieces...but the important stuff is here though.  It's unseasonably warm today (like 80), so this top gets a free day without being worn under a jacket or blazer. Winter is coming...eventually, but until then, I'm easy breezy.
